In this student project, an interactive AR photo album was designed for people suffering from dementia, and their families, to preserve and relive memories together. The idea evolved from research and findings that music and sound are powerful triggers for memory recall. Therefore, we decided to incorporate music and sound into our AR album alongside personal videos created out of old photos.

To make the project truly meaningful and personal, we collaborated with a daughter and her mother, who has dementia. Their story became a three-piece exhibition:

Understanding Dementia – A research-based video explaining the science behind memory loss.
A Mother and Daughter’s Journey – An interview where they reminisced about life, love and moments.
The Living Photo Album – A physical book filled with personal photos, brought to life through AR, playing the mother’s favorite songs to evoke deep, emotional connections.
